Project Description
The “Innovation and Investment for Inclusive Sustainable Economic Development” (ISED) project aims to strengthen the capacity of private and public actors to promote inclusive and sustainable employment. The project is implemented on behalf of the governments of Indonesia and Germany, by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the National Development Planning Ministry (Bappenas), with GIZ as the implementing agency until June 2021. ISED operates at both the national and regional/sectoral levels. The tourism sector has been chosen as the first, with the island of Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara selected as the initial project area.
Wise Steps Consulting, in collaboration with Wise Steps Foundation, conducted mentoring programs in seven villages in the Mandalika region, serving as a buffer zone prepared for the Moto GP event and future tourism development with a focus on sustainable tourism concepts. The project’s outcome is how these villages can design, create, and implement tourism products ready for sale.
Project Objectives
The objectives of the ISED project in Mandalika, Lombok, are as follows:
Provide training for village communities to acquire the necessary skills for tourism development, including marketing and product development.
Provide mentoring to potential villages in creating sustainable tourism products.
